SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION
Image is everything.
With the stunning appearance of U.S. flags billowing on the Sidewalks surrounding Post 51 during the JROTC Banquet on May 12, Memorial Day, and the Strawberry Festival Parade, our colors seem to evoke words like pride, Patriotism, glory, and respect.
The Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L) acted on the foresight and vision of one of its members,Gary Yahn First Vice, in collaboration with the Club Manager Doris Fuller, who suggested displaying our colors on the sidewalk. The flags were given to the S.A.L. from the now defunct Jaycees organization and the S.A.L. purchased the poles and peripheral items needed to assemble flag standards. These flags serve as a reminder of those who lost their lives fighting for freedom, the Missing in Action, and also as a tribute to all veterans.
S.A.L. members, a decision has not been made yet regarding the deadline to turn In your proof of eligibility for continued membership. A tentative deadline of Friday, September 28,2012 has been considered, so submit your documents at your earliest convenience. An ad hoc committee was established in May to determine how we can rectify the membership problem in terms of eligibility and to assist those who are having difficulty in finding proof. We will try to help you by using whatever resources are at our disposal. Concerns?
