HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICAN LEGION
95 GREAT YEARS OF SERVICE TO VETERANS AND COMMUNITIES!
Auxiliary Junior member and JROTC shooting member, Jasmine Wiles, wishes to express her heartfelt “thank you” to all the Legion family who donated funds to get her to New Mexico for the National JROTC Shoot was first in state last year as a freshmen in high school). Two Auxiliary members and one Legion member donated from their personal funds; The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the 40 & 8, and the VVA all donated to her cause. The VVA also “passed the hat” at their monthly meeting and came up with “pocket change” for the trip. There were other organizations who donated, but the amount is unknown at this time. Her father, a Post member, offered to drive there with the equipment needed for the team as they did not have funds enough to ship the equipment out. The family (all members of either the Legion or Auxiliary) drove down getting there on Thursday, February 13th and she started competition on Friday. The rest of the team was delayed and did not get there until 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning. There are 40 teams and 3000 kids participating. Again, from Jasmine’s family - THANK YOU.
RESULTS: Lebanon’s JROTC team placed FIRST in Nation for 2014. Jasmine placed 9th overall out of the 3000 participants; still in the top 10.
There were newspaper articles published in both the Lebanon Express and the Albany Democrat-Herald covering the team's success in New Mexico.
Our manager, Chelly, was recently advised by our meat supplier, Childers, that the price of meats would be going up by $1.00 per pound. Chelly is presently checking other possible suppliers looking for better pricing. However, it is an example of the inflation forces we constantly face, and the reason we must adjust our own pricing from time to time.
While we are talking about pricing, our E-Board has long been concerned about bar prices, particularly the Friday night Happy Hour prices which are a major cost to the Post. While we have no idea what decisions may finally be made, it is only fair to advise our members of possible changes in some of our prices in the next month or two.
TACO NIGHT/MARGARITA SPECIAL
On a more positive note, we are going to move toward expanding our menu somewhat on Taco Nights so members have some choices of other items. If you’d like something other than a taco, ask and see what is available. This will be evolving as we see what is possible and what people want.
WI-FI IN THE CLUB
We are happy to advise everyone we now have WiFi in the Club.
