Hope this finds you safe and warm. No more ice storms! We helped each other. Plowed driveways and parking lots, etc. Super Bowl packed the Club. Good friends, good food, and a great game. The extra touches really made the difference. Thanks to Dave, Dale, Terry, Jay, Jim, and Jimco Bob. Thanks to all who up and made the day fun. Doris “forced” us to add the 60” plasma TV. It looks great! Thanks Doris. We have added some new members and we are looking for more. Find new guys and bring them in for lunch. Take pride in the Post. Welcome aboard Chelly. She will be a great manager.
Interim Squadron Commander
The Auxiliary is trying something new. We will now have our E-Board meeting on the same night as the General meeting only it will start at 6:30 p.m. Come down and see what else is new. Attend our general meetings and present YOUR new ideas. We have to change what and how we are doing things so this organization will NOT dissolve due to lack of members.
Unit 51 President 541-405-6038 or
Santiam Post Examiner
Greetings! As you may or may not know, Doris Fuller is retiring soon. She told me that this is the last time she is retiring. She has seen a lot of changes since having started in February 1996. She will be greatly missed.
We recently hired Chelly Thomson to replace Doris. Chelly has worked in several places around the area and is very capable of the tasks here. Please come in and say “Hi” to her and get to know her. We had an unsafe area in the Post—the floor in the beer cooler was getting very bad (rotten). Therefore, we had it replaced. At this time, things seem to be in good order.
Due to a recent vacancy in the position of S.A.L. Commander, Gary Yahn, the 1st Vice Commander, was nominated, seconded, and voted in as S.A.L. interm Commander. Also 2nd Vice-Commander Sean Meiner was nominated, seconded, and voted in to fill the 1st Vice Commander position. We thank these officers for stepping forward in this time of need.
This March will be the 96th birthday of the American Legion. There will be a dinner on March 18th to celebrate this and we will have the Department Officers attending. Come down, welcome the Department Officers, and enjoy the evening. There will be a short program (as always) with our meetings afterwards. The Auxiliary needs younger people to come forward with ideas and who are interested in serving as officers and/or chairmen. Please contact me at the number below if you wish to become involved. Welcome to the new Club Manager, Chelly Thomson. 3-14
